Calypso - Abscess in Chest

5yr old mare presented with extreme discomfort; labored breathing and reluctance to walk with restrictions on her right front. After evaluation heat and swelling was noted in her right front pectoral area. The area was ultrasounded to confirm a pocket of fluid. Within 3 targeted acuscope treatments, the abscess came to the surface and drained. Once the fluid completely drained, acuscope was used to assist in closing the deep wound without further infection. A total of 10 treatments were applied to assist the different stages of healing.

No sedation was needed. We were also able to avoid NSAIDs through the pain relief provided with the Acuscope. The pocket closed and wound healed without infection. Calypso remained outisde, able to move around as she pleased (although separated from other horses).

Wound care consisted of Miracle Clay over the swelling until the abscess erupted. Once open, clay was applied around the opening(never over), diluted tea tree oil spray, Solace, and Would Salve. A barrier of beeswax balm was applied where the drainage touched her skin to avoid irritation from drainage.

Treating over the top and around the swelling to encourage the abscess to drain. She enjoyed the treatment!
